Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) The following are some Frequently Asked Questions concerning the Schools Supporting Local Companies project. |
What is the aim of the project? The aim of the project is to develop education/business links between schools and small local companies (SMEs). |
How many schools and companies have participated? To date, 8 primary schools and more than 200 small companies have participated. |
Who runs the project? Can we run projects in our area? Each project to date has been in South West Wales, and has been run by 4children2enjoy Ltd and the Education Business Division of Careers Wales West. Typically, Careers Wales West fund the project and help the school to deliver a "Business Day", and 4children2enjoy sign up the companies and develop the website.
4children2enjoy Ltd would also be pleased to hear from Education Business Partnerships (EBPs) etc in the rest of the UK who might be interested in running projects for schools in their area. Please for an information pack. |
What benefits do schools gain from the project? Feedback from the schools participating to date is that they have found the project worthwhile, as:
a. An opportunity to develop the communication skills of pupils.
b. A project which helps pupils to gain a better understanding of the process of designing and developing a website.
c. A successful education-business links activity.
The schools felt that the time devoted to the project by the head, class teacher and pupils was reasonable, given the above benefits.
What benefits do companies gain from the project? Company evaluation forms, and verbal feedback, indicate that the companies also found the project worthwhile. The following were seen as major benefits:
a. The Business Day making more children and parents aware of their products and services.
b. New customers attracted via the free website entry.
c. The only commitment required being the hour spent at the school.
What benefits do the EBP gain? The Education Business Partnership (EBP) gains large numbers of small companies (SMEs) taking part in meaningful discussions with school children. This can be difficult to achieve, because owners of small companies often cannot find the time to participate in school-based projects, unless there is some benefit to the company. |
Can my school take part? We would be pleased to hear from individual schools who wish to run a "Schools Supporting Local Companies" project with their own local companies. Please for an information pack. |
Can my company's details be put onto the website? The only way your details can be included on this website is if you are a small company (SME) and you take part in a "Schools Supporting Local Companies" project with your local school .
However, we also develop websites and online shops for companies. Please for details. |
How do I get my company's details updated? If your company's details are already on the website, but are now out of date, please with details of the text changes and/or the new photo you require.
